Wild Canary, Brookfield

How I didn’t know about this little gem of a café, I’ll never know but it’s Brisbane’s little slice of heaven on Earth. Hidden away from the hustle and bustle of the city, Wild Canary can be found next to Brookfield’s Garden Centre in Brisbane’s western suburbs. This is a place where you can relax and take time out to enjoy the botanical backdrop of the Brookfield Garden Centre as you sip on a glass of wine. There is plenty of seating, so you won't have to wait for a table nor will you be hurried to finish your coffee so the next customers can take your spot. This is truly paradise! Wild Canary is known for plating up the freshest produce, some of which is grown in the nursery itself. This hidden treasure will leave you asking, how’s the serenity?

Avo on Toast: Upper Brookfield avocado salsa on dark German rye toast with poached free range eggs, lime, watercress, macadamia dukkah, herb oil and of course a side of bacon. This colossal meal is a top contender for Best Avo on Toast in Brisbane!

The Gardener's breakfast is Wild Canary's take on the classic Big Brekky. It includes house made Gypsy ham (admittedly I had no idea what this was at first. Turns out 'Gypsy Ham' is a traditional Bavarian style dry-cured smoked ham which is also known as 'Black Forest Ham'), pork and fennel sausage, mushrooms, avocado, smoked beans and poached free range eggs with sourdough toast.

Wild Canary's neighbouring nusery supplies a good portion of the fresh produce used in the cafe's kitchen.
